It will be available as two 7" singles, one with Swansway on the flip side and the other with INTO A SWAN (Reprise) on the B side. The CD single's B Sides are yet to be confirmed.. The Digital release will now be the 27th of August and not 13th as previously announced .. All three physical formats include exclusive new pictures of Siouxsie. New Mantaray Album 25.06.07 Siouxsie's new album is to be called "Mantaray" and is released on September 10th 2007, it features the new single "Into A Swan" (which is released digitally on 13th August and on CD, 7" and other formats on August 27th). Other track titles include About To Happen, Here Comes That Day, and Drone Zone. New Micro Site 14.05.07 A new micro site is being built for Siouxsie's new album, it should be live by mid July, the site will carry news about the album and the debut single "Into A Swan". The URL is Siouxsiemantaray.com. Contrary to rumours "Into a Swan" is NOT a digital only release, and will be released on 7" and other formats once B sides etc have been decided. Siouxsie is now busy writing new material for the new record and will go into the studio later this year to begin recording. 'I am really excited about making new music. I have various collaborators in mind and am itching to get back in the studio'. Referring to an infamous spray-painting campaign to get the Banshees signed to a major label, Siouxsie added 'At least I didn't have to get someone spray-painting my name on the front of the Universal building !' The new venture sees her reunited with John Williams, who was the Polydor A & R man who worked with her on Siouxsie and the Banshee's 1988 'Peepshow' album and on The Creatures 1989 album 'Boomerang'. PeTA Award Ceremony 29.06.06 Last night (28th June 2006) Siouxsie presented an award to Cosmopolitan Magazine and Topshop for adopting a fur free policy on behalf of anti animal cruelty organisation PeTA. PeTA's annual humanitarian award ceremony was held in London for the first time ever at Stella McCartney's Flagship store in Bruton Street. Others involved in the awards were Pamela Anderson, Chrissey Hynde and Sadie Frost to name a few. For more info see PeTA'S own website. Japanese Reissues 28.06.06 Soon released in Jap are some beautiful paper sleeve versions of the first 4 reissues from Polydor Japan. Join Hands is a little gatefold sleeve and looks stunning. Best to find these on line or on import as soon as you can as numbers are limited. The next batch of reissues will be be late 2006 or early 2007. Some great stuff has been unearthed from the archives.... so expect some treats across these special re-releases. Siouxsie and the Banshees Nocturne Update 02.06.06 Nocturne DVD is number 15 in UK DVD midweeks.. Get on out there and buy it before Sunday. Siouxsie and the Banshees Nocturne 27.03.06 Nocturne is re released Early May 2006 on DVD for the first time. The DVD features the Play at Home TV Special made by the banshees at the time.. this 45 minute madness is based on a mad hatters tea party and was the launch pad for the wonderfull world of Wonderland. Generally you CANNOT use a UK Dreamshow in the USA, your player may well play it and spin it round but unless your DVD plays PAL discs and your TV accepts a European PAL signal you will not be able to watch it properly. You need to check the following before you decide to buy a UK disc (it is Region 0 so it is not an issue that you DVD player is region 1, 2, 4.. etc etc etc) 1) Does your DVD player play PAL European discs ? 2) Does you TV accept that signal from the DVD player ? If in any doubt please wait for the USA issue, Demon promise us that this well be very soon and we'll announce a date as soon as we get this information from the Demon Music Group. The signing next Monday, will only be attended by Siouxsie, the change of date to the 22nd August meant that Budgie could no longer make it. And we forgot to put this up on the site originally. The delay in the DVD's release date was due to a fire in the VCD manufacturing plant meaning it had to be put back to 22nd August 2005. Due to the change in date the instore appearance is now on 22nd of August instead. All the stock of Dreamshow was burnt in the fire in Wembley London. The fire was so big it made national news. The money goes to Animal Aid. Siouxsie has donated the Golden "Winner" Ticket from the Mojo Awards to be sold off for Animal Aid. The Golden card , signed by Siouxsie, was given to the Edge to read out the winner of the Icon Award during the Mojo Award's climax earlier this month. It is a one off and 100% genuine. All @ Sioux Dreamshow DVD 23.06.05 The Dreamshow DVD is released in the UK on July 25th 2005.. The rest of the world's release dates will be announced by mid July. But it seems that the USA will be in September this year.. Technically the UK version is Region 0, PAL - so it can be use anywhere in the world on equipment that reads PAL (most players do these days, but 'NTSC' countries do not advertise this: USA, Canada, Japan, most of South America.) The main area to watch out is that your TV can use a PAL signal, otherwise you'll only see it in black and white.. it will still look and sound great.. but it was filmed in COLOUR (COLOR) .. The end result is stunning, two hours of footage plus extras including 5 tracks from the incredible 100 club shows and an interview with Siouxsie and Budgie. All @ Sioux Mojo Icon Award 17.06.05 Last night Siouxsie lifted the Icon Award and the Mojo Honours Awards. John Peel RIP 26.10.04 This news is totally unexpected and devastating. I'm still reeling from the shock of Marc's accident the day after he attended my last show at the RFH in London. John championed Siouxsie & The Banshees and many more when no-one else would and he gave us our chance to discover what it was like to be in a studio with those early sessions. I know for a fact that those sessions were instrumental in getting us signed and releasing Hong Kong Garden as our first single in 1978. I can't believe that it was only last week that I so enjoyed filling in for John whilst he was away, I was looking forward to reading his anecdotes of Peru in the paper when he got back and maybe doing it again for any of his next trips. You always knew that John said and played what he wanted, not what he was told to or ought to. A unique maverick of the radio has been lost and I feel so sad. Ê n Evening with...Siouxsie (Rescheduled) 26.03.04 Dear Gang, Friends & Fiends It is with great regret & frustration that we are compelled to announce the rescheduling of this yearÕs ÒEvening with SiouxsieÓ tour dates. The reason for this is that after her recent successful Sinus operation, Siouxsie has unfortunately contracted a ÔSecondary Sinus InfectionÕ just three weeks after being given the ÔAll ClearÕ. We could have followed the accepted policy and waited another few weeks to see how the condition Ôresponds to treatmentÕ before taking this decision, but we felt that the risk of having a shorter period of notice would be unfair on everybody. We know some people have already made travel plans along with their ticket purchase & so we want to give everybody as much time as possible to alter those plans or to obtain refunds if necessary. ItÕs because we also want to give Siouxsie as much time as possible to make a full & complete recovery that we are rescheduling the tour to start in September. The exact dates will be announced early next week, along with all information regarding any refunds or ticket exchanges required. (Please hold on to tickets already purchased, they will still be valid.) Yours sincerely, Budgie Some words for John.. 11.03.04 Prior to leaving for London last Thursday, Siouxsie & I had been talking about inviting John McGeoch to guest with us on stage. We hadnÕt spoken in ages but we had a mutual acquaintance whom I was going to get in touch with. IÕd even had a daydream about us playing a version of ÔThe Light Pours Out Of MeÕ or ÔShot By Both SidesÕ, actually just thinking of those guitar riffs brings a lump to my throat. It wasnÕt until we arrived back home last night that we knew for sure that it would indeed remain a dream. John was gone. Without any disrespect to all the other guitarists we have worked with, none had the relaxed mastery and such a depth of expression as John McGeoch. No amount of scrutiny of filmed ÕLiveÕ performance tapes could reveal the subtle economy of technique that made an apparently complex phrase look so deceptively simple. Exasperated guitarists would often comment, ÒBut his hands donÕt even move!Ó His signature style was what made the intros to songs like ÔSpellboundÕ and ÔHappy HouseÕ so unique, the guitar break in ÔIsraelÕ swing & the feedback in ÔNight ShiftÕ scream. I remember in pre-show soundchecks John would move around the stage locating the Ôharmonic sweet spotsÕ which he would employ like a magician, literally conjuring sounds out of thin air. I also remember him entertaining the road crew we shared with Motorhead with a manic rendition of ÔThe Ace of SpadesÕ or a note & tone perfect version of HendrixÕs ÔLittle WingÕ. On a recent trawl of the web looking for clues, I came across an interview with the ÔChilli PepperÕsÕ John Frusciante, who cited John as one of the guitarists heÕd studied religiously, I think ÔThe EdgeÕ & many other guitarists were listening too. John was also an entertainer and a charming gentleman, his smile was sincere and his voice which I can still hear, had a gentle Scottish lilt which would make the adjective ÔapparentÕ, sound like the noun for a mother or father. Sometimes the mild mannered Scot from Greenock could get a bit Glaswegian. When playing as ÔJanet & the IcebergsÕ in 1980, John was about to show some baiting idiot in the crowd a bit of Scottish etiquette but not before first retiring stage left to change out of his soft shoes. Much to our relief the coward made a hasty exit while John put his boots on. Of course we teased him endlessly for being on stage in his ÔSlippersÕ in the first place! It was nice to see John in a recent documentary, remember his time with the band so fondly but also heartbreaking to hear him recount the events leading up to his departure so acutely. We can all be grateful that he agreed to add his part to the bandÕs recent biography with the intelligence and dignity that were always his most outstanding characteristics. IÕm honoured to have shared some special moments with John McGeoch and I will always love & remember him as a warm & caring friend. Postal Strike !!! 02.11.03 Mail Orders are behind some 3 weeks now due to a postal strike, last week we had nothing delivered at Sioux HQ and nothing picked up either !!! This is set to last at least one more week, so please be patient.... Germany Release Date Delayed Slightly 28.10.03 HAI ! is released on 4th November throughout Germany.. order your copy today !! Godzilla ! and the UK Charts 20.10.03 The CreaturesÕ latest single Godzilla! entered the the UK charts at number 53. Had all the actual unit sales been counted and had it been treated as a normal release, Godzilla! would have been a top twenty hit, possibly landing The Creatures on TOTP and other key shows. The only reason this didnÕt happen is that most of the sales of Godzilla! came through independent record stores which included Sister Ray, a specialist store with chart return status. The UK chart system is based on 100% of sales from chain stores (HMV, Virgin, Tower, MVC etc.) and a sample of the UKÕs independent record stores (only 20% of them have the machine that gives sales figures to the chart compilers) Sales from the indie stores only, are then multiplied by a Ôweighting factorÕ to make up for the indie stores that do not have these machines. Our problem came when Sister Ray (who do have the machine) made actual sales of well over 1000 in the first week. The Chart compilers apparently did not trust these sales stating that they were not representative of the record buying public, even though similar sales by other artists from Sister Ray, have been and will be accepted without question. Despite numerous requests we have still not received a satisfactory answer as to why our sales have been made the exception to the rule. The result was that not only was the weighting factor removed but all of the 1000 copies sold through Sister Ray were taken out of the Ôsales returnsÕ figures completely. Had the usual weighting been applied, Godzilla! would have been top twenty and even without weighting would have achieved at top 30. Words fail us and all the partners in Sioux Records. The record industry is certainly already in decline and it now seems that independent artists with a strong following like Siouxsie and Budgie are being discriminated against, when their only crime is having their records sold by shops that actually choose to stock them without any of the usual major label incentives to do so. Of course HMV supported the release as did other chains but if fans prefer to buy from indie stores it seemingly means that these sales are distrusted and not accepted by the chart return analysts who publish and compile the weekly charts. Hopefully the shops without machines will eventually get them so we may finally see a true picture of the record buying publicÕs tastes rather than one tainted by co-op advertising and stock deals.
